October 17, 2026 - Burningtree Country Club
Hello Golfers,
It is time to pick your team and sign up for the Pumpkin Ball Tournament! This is a 4-person team event. We play two tournaments. First is a regular 4-person 3 best ball tournament. The other is the pumpkin ball competition. Each team will be given a special pumpkin ball and will rotate that ball between the team members. The team should decide the player rotation for the pumpkin ball and follow that rotation for all holes. Please note, the first 2 players in the rotation will play 5 holes with the pumpkin ball and the other 2 will play 4 holes with the pumpkin ball. The teams that make it back to the club house with their pumpkin ball are in the pumpkin ball tournament. The gross score of the pumpkin ball will determine the winner. Once your team loses the pumpkin ball, you are no longer competing in the pumpkin ball tournament. Your team will still compete in the 4-person 3 best ball tournament. There will be flights for the 3 best ball tournament.
The champions of each of the BEGA leagues will also be competing for the Overall BEGA Champion during the tournament. The league champs will be on a team for the competition, in addition to competing against each other for the Overall BEGA Champion.
We will have a shotgun start at 8:00 AM and food to follow the tournament. This is usually one of our most popular tournaments and it will be the last monthly tournament for the year.
The price to play will be $65. That price includes the golf fee, prize fund and a nominal charge for food/gratuity. BEGA will pay Burningtree and will collect from each player. We will accept payment in the form of cash, check (made out to BEGA), Venmo (@Lance-Morris-7) or Zelle (256-651-8051).
The Tournament Committee,
Linda/Lance/Carl
FORMAT
This is a 4 Person (3 best balls) team handicap (100% of individual Handicap) tournament with a Pumpkin Ball. Teams will be ranked in order of team handicap, and then divided into flights for determination of flight winners and prize awards.
USGA Rules will apply. All BEGA Local Rules apply.
BB RULES
Each Team Member will play their ball until holed out. The gross scores for each player will be entered on the scorecard and the app. The team’s three lowest net scores will be used for a score on each hole.
PUMPKIN BALL RULES
The PB is its own separate tourney. The gross score of the PB is recorded as the ball is rotated among the team. No handicap is applied. Competition is among the teams that return their PB. The lowest gross score will be the winner. Each team will be provided with a Pumpkin Ball. This ball will be rotated from player to player in the order the team establishes on the first tee. This rotation will continue through the 18 holes played, provided the ball isn’t lost. Once the ball is lost the score for the Pumpkin Ball is stopped. In addition the player losing the PB will take the appropriate penalty strokes, will replace it with another ball for the BB part of the tourney and complete the hole.
